The first edition of Italian Food Days has successfully concluded in Tashkent. The initiative, organized by the Italy-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce (CIUZ), was designed to promote new opportunities for collaboration between Italian companies and Uzbek operators in the agri-food, agri-tech, and food processing sectors.
The programme began on June 9 with a series of institutional meetings for the participating Italian companies, accompanied by CIUZ. The delegation was received at the Embassy of Italy in Uzbekistan by Dr. Anna Cecilia Amari. During the meeting, participants discussed key aspects of the economic relationship between Italy and Uzbekistan, with particular attention to the agri-food, machinery, and logistics sectors, which were identified as areas with significant potential for further bilateral cooperation.
The delegation subsequently met with Bahodir Umirshaykhov, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Food Industry Association (UFIA). The meeting provided an important opportunity to exchange views on the development prospects of Uzbekistan’s food industry and to explore potential forms of industrial and commercial cooperation between Uzbek agricultural producers and Italian companies. Participating businesses had the opportunity to present their activities and expertise, initiating a constructive dialogue with representatives of the local food industry.
The core programme of Italian Food Days took place on 10 and 11 June and featured the participation of Gisal S.r.l., a manufacturer of machinery and equipment for the food industry; Cogefrin S.p.A., specialized in logistics and freight forwarding services to CIS countries; and SARBA International S.r.l., active in the export of Italian agri-food products.
At the Azimut Grand Hotel in Tashkent, CIUZ organized structured B2B meeting agendas with selected Uzbek counterparts, aimed at facilitating the creation of new commercial partnerships, identifying investment opportunities, and enhancing mutual knowledge of the respective markets.
On 11 June, the delegation also took part in the online event “Italy Meets Uzbekistan”, promoted by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) in collaboration with CIUZ. The presentation highlighted the internationalization support tools available to Italian companies, including CDP’s business matching platform, and provided an overview of the main investment and development opportunities offered by the Uzbek market.
Italian Food Days proved to be a practical instrument for economic promotion and business support, contributing to the strengthening of commercial relations between Italy and Uzbekistan while fostering new opportunities for cooperation across the agri-food sector and its related value chains.
