Mission in the Water Sector: CIUZ takes Member Acquaflex to Uzbekistan

From September 13 to 17, a mission in the chemical sector took place in Uzbekistan, organized and accompanied by the Italy–Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce for its Member Acquaflex, represented by CEO Antonio Dito and Technical Manager Rosalia Scielzi.

Acquaflex, a leading company in chemical technologies for industrial water treatment, visited the country to hold several meetings and site visits with Uzkimyosanoat (UKS) and UzbekNefteGaz (UNG) — the Uzbek state holdings for the chemical and fertilizer industry and the oil & gas sector (upstream and downstream), respectively.

The delegation began its journey in Tashkent, where Acquaflex representatives met with the Chamber’s President, Giorgio Veronesi, before proceeding to Navoiy, where they visited NavoiyAzot, the country’s main chemical and fertilizer plant, and then to Bukhara, for a visit to Uzbekneftegaz’s oil and condensate refinery.

In both locations, on-site technical visits and meetings were held with the respective management teams, aiming to identify concrete areas of collaboration.

The mission ended back in Tashkent with a meeting with E. Korjikhov, First Deputy Chairman of UKS, followed by one at the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade (MIIT) with Mirsharif Shuhratov, Investment Manager for the Chemical Sector, and Islombek Israilov, Chief Specialist.

This initiative is part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between UKS and Acquaflex at the end of April 2025, aimed at studying and developing a strategic partnership, including the possible creation of a Joint Venture for the formulation and local production of additives for industrial water and process fluids for the paper and food industries. The goals are to replace imports of specialized products, optimize processes, and reduce water consumption in the sectors involved.

The visit represented an important opportunity to strengthen the relationships already established, laying the groundwork for defining a roadmap for the development of the study outlined in the MoU.

This mission stands as an excellent example of Italy–Uzbekistan cooperation in a sector that is crucial for the country’s sustainable growth.
