On July 27, an agreement was signed in Rome, at the Farnesina, between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and Unioncamere to strengthen the internationalization of Italian enterprises.
The agreement, signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani and the President of Unioncamere Andrea Prete, reinforces the role of the Chambers of Commerce in consolidating Italy’s presence in foreign markets, formally recognising Unioncamere as one of the key actors of the Sistema Italia in support of export growth. The signing ceremony was attended by Giuseppe Tripoli, Secretary General of Unioncamere, Mario Pozza, President of Assocamerestero, representatives of ICE, SIMEST, SACE, CDP, as well as the Italian Chambers of Commerce and the Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad connected online.
The agreement establishes close cooperation between the Ministry and the Chamber system. Unioncamere will provide MAECI with its knowledge of Italy’s production landscape and of the export potential of local territories, and will promote internationalization opportunities among enterprises, also through Promos Italia and the network of Italian Chambers of Commerce Abroad. At the same time, MAECI will involve Unioncamere in institutional and economic missions and in programmes dedicated to supporting companies.
Minister Tajani described the Chamber system as “a key ally in our commitment to growth, enabling companies to fully leverage their potential and play a leading role in international markets.” He also stressed the importance of diversifying export destinations: while Italy maintains a strong presence in consolidated markets, expansion into new ones has produced remarkable results.
Unioncamere President Andrea Prete highlighted: “In today’s international context, small and medium-sized enterprises need targeted assistance, networks and skills — precisely the role played by Unioncamere and the Chamber system through the network of 60 Italian Chambers of Commerce, Promos Italia, the special agencies, the 86 Italian Chambers abroad in 64 countries, and the 39 mixed Chambers.”
