On March 23–24, the Italy–Central Asia Business Forum “Innovation, Regenerative Agriculture, and Digitalization for Sustainable Agro-Ecosystems” took place in Tashkent, bringing together institutions and companies from the agri-food sector from Italy, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan.
The Forum, strongly promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and organized in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), was attended by Minister Francesco Lollobrigida and his counterparts from the participating countries, the President of ICE Matteo Zoppas, the President of SACE Guglielmo Picchi, and the CEO of SIMEST Regina Corradini D’Arienzo.
The first day opened with a high-level institutional session, followed by G2G institutional roundtables and scientific panels on cooperation in the agri-food and agrotechnical sectors. The second day focused on the signing of several agreements, including one between SIMEST, SACE, and CIUZ, as well as a packed agenda of business-to-business meetings and discussions between institutions and companies.
A delegation of 60 Italian agri-food companies took part in the Forum, including CIUZ members Sarba and Alba Milagro, along with partner Greenexta. They had the opportunity to engage with industry operators from across Central Asia. Representing CIUZ were President Giorgio Veronesi, Executive Vice President Giuseppe Ferrario, and CIUZ Representative in Tashkent Oybek Irgashev. On the sidelines of the event, Ferrario and Irgashev accompanied Alba Milagro and Greenexta—represented by their respective export managers Nicola Cogliati and Cristiano Santonocito—in a series of additional meetings with local partners in Tashkent and Samarkand.
