In Rome, the annual reception of the Uzbek Embassy for the Independence Anniversary

On September 25, at the prestigious Hotel Cavalieri in Monte Mario, Rome, a reception was held to celebrate the 34th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, hosted by Ambassador Abat Fayzullaev and his spouse. The event was also attended by representatives of the Italian government. Both the Ambassador and the government representative delivered commemorative speeches, highlighting the historical significance of this occasion.

The important development of relations between Italy and Uzbekistan was emphasized, relations which have now reached the level of a strategic partnership following the official visits of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Sergio Mattarella to Rome and Tashkent, respectively, in 2023. More recently, the partnership was further strengthened by the mission of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to Samarkand in May 2025.

With regard to economic cooperation, the strong and growing interest of Italian companies in Uzbekistan was underlined, as well as that of Uzbek companies in Italy. On one hand, Italy offers its innovative technologies across various sectors; on the other, Uzbekistan positions itself as an ideal partner for Italian enterprises, not only by providing important raw materials but also as a destination for investments, the establishment of local businesses, and the development of new market opportunities.

Following the official speeches, the reception continued with a performance of traditional Uzbek music and a buffet of typical specialties. Many members of the Italy–Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce took part in the event, seizing the opportunity to engage with counterparts in attendance. The Chamber was represented by Executive Vice President Giuseppe Ferrario, accompanied by his daughter Sabrina. Representing the Embassy, in addition to H.E. Abat Fayzullaev, was Counsellor Burkhonilla Khamidullaev.

A heartfelt thank you to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Italy for the warm welcome and the organization of the reception, which each year provides an opportunity to further strengthen the economic and cultural dialogue between Italy and Uzbekistan.
