EVENIO Expo Italy: Strengthening Italy–Uzbekistan Cooperation in the Furniture Sector

In November, CIUZ accompanied a delegation of eight Italian furniture companies to Tashkent on the occasion of EVENIO Expo Italy.

The event, organized by the Chamber in collaboration with member Médinit, took place on Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 November at the Azimut Grand Hotel in Tashkent, following a full schedule of B2B meetings with Uzbek counterparts. Attending the event onsite were CIUZ President Giorgio Veronesi, Secretariat staff members Samantha Rampini and Maria Mengoni, and the Chamber’s Representative in Tashkent, Oybek Irgashev.

Over the two days, participating companies had the opportunity to meet various operators in the Uzbek market, including designers, architects, showrooms, contractors, and developers interested in Italian design and know-how. The agenda also featured presentations from the Uzbekistan Hoteliers Association and from Iteca, a CIUZ member and organizer of major national trade fairs, including those in the furniture sector.

On November 18, the Chamber additionally organized two introductory institutional meetings for the delegation, with the aim of presenting Italian companies with market opportunities and an overview of the furniture industry in Uzbekistan. The companies were welcomed by the Embassy of Italy in Tashkent, where they met with the Chargé d’Affaires, Andrea de Felip, and engaged in a valuable discussion on the opportunities the country offers to Italian businesses. The delegation then visited the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan for a meeting with MEYOS, the Uzbek association of furniture and woodworking manufacturers, and its members.

EVENIO proved to be an important first step toward engaging with the dynamic Uzbek market, where the furniture sector is rapidly growing and where Italian expertise can offer significant added value in terms of quality, style, and innovation.
