The third edition of Uzum Sayli, the International Wine Festival dedicated to the promotion of the wine industry and agritourism in Uzbekistan, came to a close on August 24 in the Tashkent Region. The event brought together representatives of local ministries and institutions, diplomatic corps in Uzbekistan, industry leaders, and delegations from over 30 countries, with an estimated attendance of nearly 150,000 visitors.
At the invitation of the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Leonardo Comucci, Honorary Consul of Uzbekistan in Italy and member of the Board of the Italy–Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce, also took part in the festival. He attended also as a sommelier and expert in the wine industry. His participation not only underscored the growing interest in strengthening relations between the two countries in this sector, but also featured insightful contributions on the specific characteristics of viticulture in Italy and Uzbekistan, as well as on strategies for adapting the industry to the challenges posed by climate change.
During the two-day event, Consul Comucci met with prominent figures including Zoir Mirzayev, Governor of the Tashkent Region, and Shadiyev Umid Rustamovich, Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Discussions focused on future opportunities for business collaboration and cooperation in the tourism sector. Potential partnerships in the fields of education and research were also highlighted, with possible academic collaborations between universities in Tuscany and Uzbekistan.
